Welcome Back!

Happy August Everyone!

I hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful summer filled with quality time spent with family and friends. Our first practice of the 2015/2016 season will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and we start collecting membership and folder cheques at 6:45 pm so that we can meet a planned 7:15 pm downbeat. If you are not returning to band this year, can you please let us know so we may take you off our distribution list.

Membership Dues and Folder Deposit. As presented at our fall AGM membership dues will be increasing by $10 / adult and $5 / student this year. In addition our folder deposit will be going up to $100. This second cheque will not be cashed unless your folder is not returned at the end of the year. Please bring two cheques made out to the “Gloucester Community Concert Band” with you to practice:

a. Cheque One dated September 8, 2015 for Membership to be handed to Jacquie Embleton (Treasurer):

$70 for adults;
$45 for students; and

b. Cheque Two dated June 30, 2016 for Music Folder Deposit in the amount of $100 to be handed to Erin Walsh (Music Librarian).

As you’re all aware the Catholic School Board has instituted a user fee for the use of any of their facilities this year. Over the summer I completed the permit application process. Due to my misunderstanding of their new fee structure the cost will be significantly more than I stated at the fall AGM. The usage cost of $30 is not per use but per hour. As our practices are two and a half hours the usage fee (including taxes and processing fee) that our permit details is $2343.69. I have briefed our Executive and we will discuss this issue and our options going forward at our first Executive meeting. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to email or discuss with any of us at your first opportunity.
