Sept 8th Announcements

All,

On behalf of your Executive I just wanted to welcome you all back to the GCCB!! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to practice tonight. For those new to the band or who may have missed our Fall AGM, I’d like to extend a special thank you to Jacquie who has agreed to take on the duties and responsibilities as our band Treasurer. Your Executive members are:

Cindy (Clarinet) Vice President
Jacquie (French Horn) Treasurer
Anna (Trombone) Secretary – possibly away till end Oct

Please accept my apologies, as I will not be at practice tonight. Unfortunately I injured my back 10 days ago and I cannot sit or stand for prolonged periods without extreme discomfort. Although I am feeling allot better than last week, I don’t think tonight would be a good idea.

We should have a couple of new players showing up tonight. In my absence please help me welcome Sarah on bass clarinet and Paul (returning) on tuba. Due to the current size of our band, over the last couple of weeks I’ve turned away several people who sent emails asking about joining. If we have “walk – in” players over the next few weeks, may I please ask Section Leaders to let me know as it wouldn’t be fair to those I’ve turned away to accept new members who walk in after turning away others who asked in advance to join.

We are in discussions regarding performing on Friday, Sept 25th around 7:30 pm. The founder of Capital Velo Fest has approached us regarding adding some entertainment along the route of their event this year. We are still working on the exact details. Please let your Section Leaders know if you are available for this possible performance.

We will be approaching Ecole Beatrice Desloges regarding the possibility of holding our Christmas Concert in their facilities on Tuesday, Dec 1st. We are looking for volunteers to help organize and prepare for this concert. If you are interested please let either myself or Cindy know as soon as possible.

I hope you all have a great practice tonight!

Sincerely,

Kevin
