Please find below a list of music we will be **keeping** in our folders. Note that if you don’t have one of the pieces listed below, do not ask for it. It can be added to your folder next season. ALL music not listed below is to be returned. Please order your music numerically to make returning music easier. (Pieces not numbered can be in alphabetical order in front of numbered pieces.) We have piles of music on the floor in numerical order and require everyone’s help in returning pieces to the correctly. Then we ask everyone to help sort each piece according to instrument order in the score. Many hands make light work! Erin will be on hand to answer questions. You are limited to three questions!

May we please ask you take a yellow post it note and mark the inside of your folder with the following information:

Name:

Instrument:

Part (s):

Example:

All, please note that the forecast for both of our outdoor performances on Sunday and Tuesday calls for rain! Grrrrrrrrrr. I will be sure to take a close look at the forecast and weather radar images on Sunday morning and make a “Go / No Go” call around 11 am.

Please wear your band shirts, black pants and bring a music stand and chair with you. We will have plexiglass to hold your music in place. Feel free to bring along your own clothes pins or clips if you’d prefer to use them.

Please wear your band shirts and black bottoms and bring your own water, music stands *and* a chair. Weather cancellation decision will be made around 11 AM. If cancelled I will send an email to all, then call all Section Leaders for them to call all their members. I will also post the cancellation on Facebook and our website. Free parking for band members will be available at the Maisons des Auteurs; same spot as last year. Please note that as they will be hosting a function on that day, we will not be the only users of this parking lot so car pooling is suggested. The lot will be open by 1 pm and will close at 4 pm. If you are staying after the concert to enjoy the park, please be sure to move your vehicle before the parking lot is locked.

“The city parking lot is quite near the terrace (10 or 20 paces) where the band is performing. You are able to stop here and unload. There is free parking at the other side of the park and it is about a 5 min walk back to the terrace. All,

With two rehearsals remaining till our Spring Concert may I please ask for all your help selling our tickets. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to keep our band running smoothly. We have asked everyone taking part in our concert to sell at least two tickets each. We made the effort to produce our tickets weeks in advance of our concert in order to provide all of you plenty of time to purchase them from any member of your executive. Asking all of our membership to help out by selling two tickets is not asking too much. Please make the effort to see one of us to purchase your tickets before our concert. Our list reflects that less than a third of those who will be at the concert have purchased tickets.

Anna created a great letter for the seniors homes that are not on our upcoming road show tour, inviting them to come out to our Spring Concert and offering their residents and staff free tickets. Today Anna and I met with their Activities Coordinators to introduce ourselves and drop off the letters and tickets. Anna is now working on a letter to organizations that we can partner with to increase our reach into the community; Orleans Legion, BFM Thrift Shop, two Orleans Libraries.

We only have two rehearsals remaining before our Spring Concert. Here are some important dates to remember and the music we will be working on:

Apr 24th – Small Ensemble performance at Orleans YMCA 2 – 4 pm;

May 1st – Small Ensemble performance at Community Pentecostal Church, Timings TBD, please see me next Tues if you are interested and available to take part.

May 7th – Spring Concert, Community Pentecostal Church, 2 pm;

May 10th – No rehearsal;

May 17th – Spring Road Show rehearsal;

May 24th – Senior’s Home performance, Chapel Hill ½ Band;

May 31st – Senior’s Home performance, Portobello ½ Band;

Jun 5th – Concert in the Park, Jacques Cartier Park, 2 pm

Jun 7th – Senior’s Home performance, Governor’s Walk, Full Band;

Jun 14th – Mini AGM and Folder Night.

Music for Apr 26th and Concert Order:

Fadi has asked that:

1. The 12 people playing in the Ensemble in Joining the Band try to learn the first few bars by heart so they feel comfortable walking to the front of the stage without looking at music; and

2. Go over some of the faster runs in Hercules to help that piece gel more.

Thank you to Anna for organizing a great social this past Tuesday. We had a good turnout and enjoyed some very tasty appy’s and desserts!

Our small ensemble performance at the BFM Grand Opening went very well. We trialed two small ensemble books borrowed from Lisa’s high school band and have decided to purchase one set along with two others we have selected from Leading Note. These books along with the set we purchased at Christmas will provide our band the flexibility to put together small groups on short notice to perform at different events and functions. Once they arrive, I will be looking for a volunteer to help me scan the books to make them easier to share. Please let me know if you can help us out.

Tickets for our Spring Concert are now available from any member of your Executive. All of you are asked to sell at least two tickets to ensure we cover our costs for using the Community Pentecostal Church; $10 / adults, $5 children 2-12. Please see Anna, Cindy, Jacquie or I during breaks or before or after our rehearsals. We will be collecting for the Food Band and are also looking for door prizes to give away. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can offer something to our effort.

Please see or email Anna (annatessierpersonal@gmail.com) if you haven’t double-checked the spelling of your name on the list she’s been passing around for our Spring Concert.

Kelley came across this link that shows our charity stats online:

https://chimp.net/charities/the-gloucester-community-concert-band-l-orchestre-communautaire-de-gloucester-inc

Lisa asked me to pass on the attached St John’s Music Sale flyer. Their intermediate and pro level woodwind and brass instruments along with accessories will be on sale 23-24 Apr. I have contact details if you are interested in a specific instrument or pricing.

We have three rehearsals remaining before our Spring Concert. Here are some important dates to remember and the music we will be working on:

May 7th – Spring Concert, Community Pentecostal Church, 2 pm;

May 10th – No rehearsal;

May 17th – Spring Road Show rehearsal;

May 24th – Senior’s Home performance, Chapel Hill ½ Band;

May 31st – Senior’s Home performance, Portobello ½ Band;

Jun 5th – Concert in the Park, Jacques Cartier Park, 2 pm

Jun 7th – Senior’s Home performance, Governor’s Walk, Full Band;

Jun 14th – Mini AGM and Folder Night.

Music for Apr 19th:

M5 – Star Wars;

M6 – An Irish Party in Third Class;

480 – Fate of the Gods;

M9 – Palladio (this piece is relatively easy but sloppy & needs work by all; use a metronome at 84);

481 – Summer in Central Park (rhythm at 84 is muddy);

M8 – Rippling Watercolors

479 – La Primitiva

M7 – Welcome to the Jungle

Enjoy the beautiful weather!

On behalf of the band I’d like to congratulate Art on his final retirement!! I’d also like to say thank you for the round of drinks he treated us to at BAB this past Tuesday. Thank you – it was very kind and generous of you!!

Please come on out and join us if you are free and in the area.
